Muscat ottonel is white wine grape variety selected in 1852 in the town of Angers, France. Believed to be a "cross" of the varieties Chasselas and Muscat de Somur.
We wanted to make this Grappa like the famous "Slivenska Perla" rakia (" Сливенска перла " ракия), a grape brandy from the south-eastern region of Bulgaria. We were unable to find Pearl of Csaba variety of gapes in the US.
Pearl of Csaba of which Slivenska Perla rakia (Сливенска Перла ракия) was done 30 years ago is also extinct in Bulgaria since 1986. So we sourced Muscat Ottonel, a grape variety from the Muscat family, which has a very similar flavor profile as Pearl of Csaba.
This Muscat Ottonel Grappa ( Мускат Отонел ракия) has soft silky elegant aroma that will blow your mind.
