Eau de Vie
An EAU DE VIE (French for Water of Life) is a clear, colorless fruit brandy that we produce by fermentation of fragrant fruits other than grapes and double or single distillation.
The fruit aromas and flavors are typically very elegant and flamboyant.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: Usually around 40% ABV or 80 proof.
European countries have different names for Eau de Vie (e.g., German Schnaps, Bulgarian Rakia, ракия, Italian Aqua Vitae,Turkish rakı, Romanian țuică, Czech and Slovak pálenka, Hungarian pálinka, and so on)
COCKTAILS: Due to their unrefined and elegant aromas Eau de Vies are excellent ingredient for cocktails.
SERVING SIZE: An eau de vie is usually served as a digestif. The typical serving size is 30 to 60 ml (1.0 to 2.0 US fl oz), owing to the high alcohol content of the spirit and because it is typically drunk after a meal during which wine, or some other alcoholic beverage, has already been served
